Yeah, I'm the same way.
My hard-use DT-12 started life as a "Bronze" model, but has lost much of the bronze...
For my uses, the coating protects against the reddish-brown cancer that "pools" where the tang begins along the "guard" of the Res-C. In that respect, the coating is a plus, in my very humble opinion.
Your mileage may vary...
