I would like to refinish the olive wood scales on my Lionsteel Jack 1. Does anyone know whether removing the Torx screws will allow me to remove the scales? Thanks!

The whole thing should dismantle if you want, just be sure to use tbe proper size torx bit

Thanks, and just for clarification, there is no adhesive between the wood scales and titanium liners?

For what it's worth I watched a video on youtube of a Lionsteel Bestman being disassembled, there was no adhesive holding the scales on.

There was however an unremovable rivet serving as the pivot for the spring and holding the liners together. So a complete disassembly wasn't possible.

I don't know if the Jack is made the same as the Bestman, but being the same brand it's certainly possible.

Thank you killgar for that information. All I'm trying to do is temporarily remove the scales so I can properly hand sand their exteriors. Do you think the rivet would prohibit that? Did that video specify the Torx size?

I checked the video, the guy didn't mention the torx size.

If the Jack has a center rivet like the Bestman, then it won't affect handle removal. The removal of the handles looks pretty straightforward- just remove the screws in the handles and they lift right off.

In case you didn't know, there is a Lionsteel sub-forum here- https://www.bladeforums.com/forums/lionsteel-knives.859/

Someone there might know the torx size of the handle screws.

I noticed that Lionsteel sells a couple of different torx driver tools, both come with two bit sizes- T6 and T8, so I would assume that the handle screws are one of those. Probably T6.

Thanks Killgar. It is size T6. I removed one screw from a Jack and it came out very easily. I’ll report again when I’ve tried to remove the scales.
