Has anyone used a Sous Vide to heat quench Oil?

Have been looking to upgrade my quench tank and was exploring the best way to heat up the oil to precision without wiring up a PID.

Then I remembered that we use a Sous Vide in the kitchen a lot. It precisely gets the water to an exact temperature and circulates it. Got me wondering if I could use that in a quench tank.

Anyone ever tried that?

If you use canola oil as a quenchent, you could also throw in a steak :)

I like the idea, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work.

If I were using an oil that required heating, I'd look for a large, commercial coffee brewer/dispenser.
But now that I did a google search to find out what a sous vide is, I don't see why that wouldn't work and I like the circulating feature.

I use a very large electric turkey roaster pan. Can grab them on amazon for cheap, come with a lid and temp control.

I regularly use one for cooking. I suspect it would take too long to get the oil up to temperature as they are good at keeping a temperature, but not very good at getting something up to temperature. When I use it for cooking, I start with very hot tap water and then use the sous vide to maintain that temperature. I guess you could just plan ahead and get it going long before you needed to quench.

The best self contained oil quench pan is an electric 18 quart Necsco roaster (AKA Turkey Roaster). You can easily add a PID control to make it work at lower temps and it will be super accurate.
