Has anyone used a use a celtic woodturners knot in a knife handle. Been searching for pics of one in a knife handle and only come of with celtic carvings, engravings and para cord handles. See pic below of some round chisel handles.

Considering this feature in my next knife handle but am curious how the design will come out in an oblong handle versus the round shape of these handles. Lots of work producing these if they don't look good on an oblong knife hande cross-section.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

A few years back it was covered very well. there was a long thread with jigs and tutorials. I will see if I can find it. Maybe someone bookmarked it?

Thanks Parric, EXACTLY what I was looking for. BTW - slick looking dagger. The handle gives it a midieval look that compliments the blade.

Looks like the pattern holds up well to a contoured handle.

Looking at your handle gives me an idea.... I wonder what it would look like with the full cross pattern in the middle, i.e. - all four sides and then do only 2 sides on the front and the alternate sides at the back of the handle. This should give an "X" before the cross and an "O" after, or the other way around depending on the viewing angle. This will give 3 complimentary designs on the knife handle. Or maybe that's too busy.... I might try and draw that out.

Stacy - failed to find the thread you mentioned but ran across a Yangai WIP post of yours from February. Got me thinking about another design. That's the problem with searching these forums, you get sent off in too many tantalizing directions.

Thanks KHALL - good example, and nice wood choices and copper hardware. Looks like a Celtic cross woks well on a handle.

Great looking stuff guys, gonna have to try this out.

One question do you guys use the wood glue or epoxy for these projects?

Titebond II is an awesome wood glue. It is water resistant, and the bond is stronger than the wood. I ran some wood glued with Titebond II through the diswasher with no ill effect.

Thanks Tom, I use that stuff for my wood projects just never anything to do with knife handles. Sounds like it will work pretty good.
