Has Anyone Used Bodycote Personally?

I’ve seen posts recently indicating that Bodycote was willing to use their patented Boron Carbide coating for individuals. As I recall, Bodycote is the only company that does Boron Carbide coating, and that they are the ones who do Microtech’s, BM,s, Kershaw’s, etc.

Has anyone used their services and sent them blades, clips, screws, etc. for coating? How were the results? How fast were they? Did they lose any parts? Has the coating held up? Obviously, they do great work for the major manufacturers, but we don’t know how many out of a few hundred blades are rejected. Do they stand behind their work if you are not satisfied with what you get back?

I would like to send them a few blades for coating, but I would like to hear from individuals who have experience with them. Thanks.

Ken - Bronco sent in his large Sebenza for a BC treatment. I think he posted pics in the CRK forum a while back.

Thanks, Dex. I found a lot of positive answers, following the linked threads.

I sent Bodycote a custom Emerson Viper 1 and was extremely pleased with the results. I disassembled the entire knife, and had the bolsters, liners, blade, screws, and thumb disc coated. Turnaround was about 7 days, cost was very reasonable ($25), and the job was outstanding. Despite all the little pieces, nothing was lost. Once reassembled, the black diamond steel and the dusky charcoal titanium matched up to produce a unique 'shadow' Viper. Very nice folks to deal with, and great product.

Personally, I use Right Guard, but maybe I don't have the same...issues...as you do :D

I have sent them maybe 50 blades now and not one complaint! I just sent them 10 or so more. I love the coating and the service!
