Has anyone used MILITEC-1 as a protectant?

I was at the local police supply shop looking for a bottle of Tough Glide. Of course they were out. The guy there recommended Militec-1 weapons grade lubricant and protectant. He said it's not as good as Tough Glide but it works real good. He wouldn't pull my leg cause this store outfits my Dept., so he treats us well. My question is. Have any of you used this stuff? If so, is it any good? I'd like to take his word for it, but you guys seem to know a bunch..

I tried it. For lubrication I didn't like it. Too thick and seemed a dirt magnet. As for protection it's ok. I have it on bayonets i have in storage. Seems ok
I wouldn't buy the stuff but since I got it free it will do. For adding to oil in machinery the product is fantastic.

I swear by it......... as a lubricant anyway. The stuff works great on Butterfly knives. With Tuff-glide I had to apply every day. Militec-1 lasts for about 2 weeks.

You have to make sure you follow the directions though. Heat the area up a little first, then apply. A minute or two with a blow dryer should do the trick. Then the stuff will thin right out for ya'.

Listen to Clay. Nobody knows more about lubricating folding knives than those peculiar sorts called balisong artists. In five minutes, I can put more wear on the joints of my knife than the average folder user will in a year. Even the dedicated flicker can not keep pace with a balisong artist. Right now, the rage among balisong artists for lubrication is Militec-1. I got a new Benchmade 42 just this weekend. Boy was it stiff out of the box. So, I loosened up the pivot pins, heated with a hair dryer, applied Militec-1 liberally, worked the stuff in well, and that baby loosened right up and is a fine knife today. I don't now about protection, but for lubrication, Militec-1 rules.

Thanx for the info. I'm using it on regular folding knives. I take a little bit on my finger and coat the entire blade. Then with a rag, I wipe the blade till it looks like there is none left on the blade. Of course that means there is still a light coating on the blade. Hopefully that should last about a week or two. What do you guys think. It says for the prevention of corrosion and rust, on the bottle.
