Has anyone used paracord for snares?

whether it was using the inner strings or the whole cord. What was your experience with it?

I haven't, but I think that it would work well. It's very slippery and super strong. Shoot, you might be able to snare a small deer with the 700 pound limit. (No, I didn't say that you should...just that you might.)

only in practice, but I used the whole cord and it seems to work fine....but working against a teddy bear and working against a live animal are of course 2 very different things.

I know a few people who have caught stuff with it. I practice with it, but have never tried it. I usually use wire..

I have heard of using it as the anchor line for a leg trap, like for a deer.

Or you could maybe use it as the strings for a small animal 'net'.

i know this is sorta of topic but you can feed barries on to the the inner strands of para cord say several feet long and when a animal eats it the cord becomes intangled in there stomachs.

Although I've never used 'proper' paracord, I've caught dozens of animals using synthetic cord or rope.

I have found some broken or 'chewed off' snares occasionally (maybe 2 in every hundred).... and I've had some damaged snares. However this does not put me off using synthetic cord. I think it is wonderful.

I've posted these pics before. But the animals below were all taken with synthetic cord.

Because cord has no stiffness like wire, it takes a bit more trouble to set a cord snare.

I generally always use a non-locking eye on my cord snares. This means that if the animal does chew the cord through, the snare is free to drop off. That way the animal doesn't have to wear it for life.
