I have been thinking about getting the cascade but I wanted to hear what anyone had to say about them.
Can't comment on the cascade, but can vouch for them generally.
I have a Damascus stag friction folder. It's an excellent little knife, and was my EDC for some time. It takes a pretty good edge (could be better, the secondary bevels are a little stteply angled in my opinion.) and retention is great. The high carbon Damascus comes at cost, more so than any other knife I own, and seems to rust even when saturated in oil if left in its sheath for too long.
Talking of sheaths, they're charming and simple, after some use they look great and develop that sort of dark gloss you get with good quality leather. They're very well made, but, they're made to templates, and not specific knives. Given the natural variations in the stag of the handles, mine did not fit as snugly as I would have liked- the knife will drop out if turned upside down.
Overall fit and finish on the knife itself is very good. The stag was nicely polished, the etch on the blade is well done and shows the awesome patterns in depth. Blade pivot is rigid, smooth and the blade sits into the handle perfectly in line.
In all, my experience of silver stag is good. They seem to make good quality knives with that handmade feel to them, and in my opinion meet what you would expect of that niche.
