Has anyone used the normal Rit-Dye on FRN or GFN, as opposed to the "Dyemore Synthetic" RitDye?

And if so, what is the result? I accidently got just regular Rit-Dye and was advised to specifically buy the synthetic stuff. I am unsure if I should attempt a return, or press on. Does this stuff react badly with the material, or does it just need a bit more oomph?

I was going to practice my first dye on Buck's GFN on the 110 Slim Select, a tan model, trying to take it to burgundy/wine red, with purple and scarlet, also have plain/Jade G-10 knives from China that I can practice on, or a RAT, before trying things like my white Spyderco Native 5, or my K390 Police 4.

Any experiences in using plain Rit-Dye?

I used the regular RIT on a couple of Spyderco Delicas with FRN handles. I had good results. The colors set very quickly, and have lasted for years.

Good job. Dyeing can be a scary project, if it goes pear shaped you can be juicied. Yours turned out great. Did you apply any oil or coating when it dried.
Thanks!

Nah, I hadn't, what do folks apply? And yeah, I thought it would take a lot longer, I wanted a liiiiitle more red than this, but got this by mixing scarlet and purple and got dang close for my first try, quite happy!

Just today I used the regular RIT liquid dye to do the scales on my new GP Knives special white Native 5. My first time dyeing and I am very pleased.

Hey, I got the same one, but DLC! Great knife, huh?
I intend to dye that one, too, a similar red, but a little brighter, as I think this is a keeper... that is a nice color though!
I think I was over-worried about this for nylon, because it says rated for nylon, FiberglassReinforcedNYLON, GlassFilledNYLON, NYLON6 (Ontario RAT).

I wonder, now, about G-10, though... I do have a Bestech I could try it on.
