Has anyone used the Work Sharp ceramic rod for pocket knives or outdoor fixed blades?

I was considering buying one of these Work Sharp ceramic rods and wondered how they do on pocket knives or outdoor fixed blades? How is the quality of the ceramic compared to Spydercos white ceramic stones?

Thanks in advance.

I’ve only got the wee WS pocket tool. 3 bits, 1.5” sharpening steel on one side and ceramic in the other side. Decent for quick field repairs. As I’m sure a full length rod would do better.

Sorry, no first hand experience with one, but I’m following to see if any actual useful responses come along!!!

*TLDR - Yes, the rod is good and works well

I have this and the field sharpener. I use the rod for my kitchen knives and folders. It's excellent for touching up the edge quick. Some steels work better than others, and that's to be expected. I use the field sharpener to touch up my pocket knives, and that works excellent as well. I have a Spyderco Sharpmaker, which I like a lot and probably better than both I mentioned. However, for quick touch-ups, the other 2 are more convenient. A couple swipes on the rod before I cut some food in the kitchen is all it takes. As far as the quality of the ceramic - both work well but the spyderco feels a little smoother. I paid $20 for the rod and I highly recommend it because of the convenient edge agle guide it has. I keep it in the knife drawer and use it several times a week.

I use my wicked edge when I need to do a full sharpening. I also have a few I haven't used much yet - Tormek T-8, WS belt sander with grinding attachment, WS guided system, and probably some others. I tell you this because the last few years have shown me that convenience is important to me. And the rod is very convenient. It should be able to keep your knife sharp for a long time before you need a full sharpening.
