I was just thinking about this. A lot of us on here carry fairly beefy knives like striders, emersons, dpx, hinderer, zt, grayman, even some spydercos or benchmades etc. And I know with me its for a few reasons, mostly being that I like larger and beefier knives. But it is also because it is always in the back of my mind that I have a tough as nails tool/weapon that I will have on my person if anything actually goes down, which sounds a bit silly but I think a lot of us are that way. Im not JUST talking about defense here, Im talking about any emergency. life or death/High stress/really any hard use situation that you did not think you would run into. Just wondering here, not insinuating that your choice of carry is unnecessarily tough or too weak, just wondering if anyone has actually run into a situation like this that they did not expect even if they didn't have a super beefy knife and how it worked out.

Also, what is the weirdest way you have used or abused a knife?

ps. Im thinking mostly of civilians since they would not normally expect for something like this to happen but I would love to hear stories from law enforcement, military, etc as well. :D

For me, I like to carry a larger blade, like a Microtech Socom, Endura, Griptilian, Aegis, etc as well as a smaller blade. I work in a grocery store, so I can't be pulling out huge knives all the time. My smaller knives are mostly the Delica, Flash 1, and the Skyline, although I have plans on getting a Dragonfly soon. I also go to college, and there I find myself not needing to cut stuff, so I generally carry just one mid-size or large blade.

Weirdest thing I used my knife for... Last night I pulled a bunch of lint out of the charger port on my phone with my Leek

I carry all sizes of knives, but when stuff goes down I reach for my SOG powerlock first. That would possibly be the case in a SD situation as well. These things are as tank-y as it gets and the cheap replaceable knife has saved my edc knife from unnecessary abuse.

Probably not what you wanted to hear... but it's what I got.

I once used a Byrd Cara Cara 2 to fend off an army of Zombies. Impressive knife for the money and they were already dead anyways.

I ran out of gas on my way home and my gas hatch was frozen shut. Used the Izula to pry it open and get off the road.

Now I pack a few tools in the back. Like a screw-driver... But the Izula came in real handy for being unprepared.

Used my Grayman Dua to flatten a tire on a DUI suspect. He started getting aggitated looking for his drivers license and then started fumbling with shifter. He tried to run but Mustangs don't do well with a hammered driver and a flat driver/rear tire.

We arrested a girl for drunk driving when I was a reserve police officer in Indiana and I had to use my Gerber Pliers to *gently* cut her belly button ring out. The female county jail workers took her to the back room to get her others out.

Thankfully i've never had to use a knife on anyone...(yet)

But I once shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die...

My son was approached by a homeless man last month, who wanted to sell him a cheap folding knife. My son kept saying he didn't have any money, as the homeless man started getting more animated, waving the knife around. My son finally told him the reason he didn't want to buy the knife was that he already had one. He reached into his pocket and flipped open his ZT 200. The homeless man ran away.
