Has BF ever considered creating their own mobile app?

I've used tapatalk for a couple years now but lately I've been having serious connectivity issues that continue to go unresolved. I should say I have no idea what's involved in creating a mobile app - would a knowledgeable member be able to do it, would we need to hire someone, etc. All I know is I'd be willing to pay a chunk of change for an app that works with BF all the time. I'm tired of tapatalk issues and the full mobile site is difficult to navigate on a phone. Thanks in advance for any comments regarding this.

I've actually thought about making an app. It wasn't forum related though, rather a tool for the folks that work in IT could use to keep organized with hectic schedules and long hours.. I don't imagine that making something similar to tapatalk would be an easy endeavor, but I am surprised that more start ups haven't launched stuff like it.

I'm interested in hearing your thoughts John.

Many forums have separate app software. I believe it's all vbulletin, but I could be wrong.

Tapatalk is immensely useful (when it works). I view and post all day every day because I can do so at any time I have a moment. I would be a ghost if I was tethered to a laptop and would find it much harder to conduct business.

I'd be very happy to pay a separate fee for a working BF app.

Go to http://www.bladeforums.com/

At the bottom left of the page you can choose your style, including a Mobile style.
When I choose the mobile version I'm unable to click on anything once it loads.

I really don't know anything about what it would take knowledge, money and time wise to do it.

Good question, not sure.

A better question would be, what do you want it to do?
Oh, gotcha. It could be a lot like tapatalk - except actually work! I don't know, maybe I'm in the extreme minority and tapatalk works just fine for most, but for me it's terrible. If it worked I wouldn't even be discussing this. So I suppose I'm happy with the way tapatalk is laid out, just not with its reliability.

The whole forum is slow and acting weird at the moment, not just Tapatalk but on PC as well.
Double posts, jumping into advanced editor etc.

Rev, have you used TT? There's little I'd change, but I'd guess its limitations would be obvious to a more technically minded person. I'd love to be able to see membership levels. Moderation doesn't work on my TT, though I don't know if others have that issue. A lot of functionality is gone as it's really meant for viewing and posting. Pm's are good, but I don't always get notifications, and I didn't even know that I had visitor messages from a long time ago. Friendship requests, and most settings are not available. I cannot access certain areas of the site (clicking on certain forums opens my browser).

Really, if TT worked like it is supposed to it would be almost perfect. I bought a separate app (owned by TT) that gives you access to specific motorcycle forums. There are plenty of forums open to TT, but I don't use them. I've used my TT to browse the USN for all of 5 minutes. I don't need an app with cross forum functionality. If an app like TT was optimized for a specific forums strengths it would work better than an app designed to work with hundreds of forums.

Hopefully someone more technical can give you feedback.

Yes Strig, my moderation functionality also doesn't work in tapatalk. Also like you say it would be nice to see membership, etc. For some reason I have issues trying to leave itrader feedback from my phone. (not even in tapatalk) also emailing stinks, I have to open the page in my browser, click on the person's user name and send it that way. A straight email button or something would be very nice. I'm sure there's other features I'd like too but probably wouldn't go into that depth unless we're actually getting our own app.

Oh, a really big one. Signatures. I'd love to see signatures. I talk with a lot of service providers. Often they have crucial information in their signature and don't realize this unless someone makes a reference to it, and then I'll log in from the browser to see it.

Tt+imgur(use to be Photobucket was better)+Gmail apps make a good combo for portability, but yeah, it could be really great.

Another cool feature would be to notify you of new threads vs. new posts. For example, tapatalk will bold the for sale subforum for me when there's an update but I don't know if it's a new thread or just a new post without viewing it. I'd say about 90% of the time it's just a new post which I really don't care about - at least not in the for sale subforum.
