ANSWERED, SEE POST #13 BY ME

Tried searching through the forum with no luck, so thought I'd pick the brains of those in the know.

Can anyone confirm that Gransfors Bruks changed the labeling on their handles?

My older Wildlife and Small Forest say "Gransfors Bruks" and "Sweden" below that.

Just bought the Outdoor axe, and it reads "Gransfors Bruk." So missing the "s" in Bruks and "Sweden."

Not that I care one way or the other, but wanted to ask you guys...thanks for the help!

I assume you've already tried emailing GB and asking them about it? If not, that should be your first step.

I don't know for sure, but their website is gransforsbruk.com not bruks. Also, the logo on the site is the same, but Sweden is still there. Good luck on your search

My Small Forest Axe says Granfors Bruk; my Scandinavian Forest Axe says Granfors Bruks. Both have Sweden underneath; and both were purchased new from trusted sellers.

Yeah I got mine from a trusted seller, that shouldn't be an issue. I actually googled the outdoor axe and none of the photos actually have Sweden written on it. So the only thing curious is my Bruks is missing an "s" or it's how they are printed sometimes. Going to email GB to check. Thanks for the reply guys.

The word 'Bruk' is Swedish for 'forge', if I'm correct. So, saying Gransfors Bruk would mean the forge called Gransfors. Saying Gransfors Bruks would mean the forges called Gransfors. As to which is the official one, I would lean toward Bruks, but could understand why some handles might say Bruk.

I just bought a GB 442 long and large splitting axe about 2 months ago....The handle has the "S" in Bruks. I also bought a replacement handle from a reputable on line store for my American felling axe head. ...it is beautiful and has awesome grain orientation but the "S" is not present.

I believe it's more like works or factory, though google says "use" or "utility" depending on the "s".

Got a speedy reply from Mr. Jorgen Westerlund from the Sweden office. And they have indeed changed the stamp, so the new production units come without the "s." The distinction according to him is that the company name is Gransfors Bruks Ab Sweden, but the product name is Gransfors Bruk Sweden. Sent the e-mail this morning and got a reply in less than an hour!

Excellent, thanks for sharing that. I think I heard the bruk-forge translation somewhere on this board, forgive me for the inaccuracy.

Interesting. Good to know!
