has knife throwing disolved to this?

Note to others: you have to watch it to the end to see what the OP is talking about.

I have some friends who tested this device and found out that it was not all that. No one liked them and they threw like crap.

It looks silly and impractical.

And now I want to play with it. (can't be worse than some of those double ended throwers out there.)

i like the idea of a non-rotational thrower- not this one, but i think iif it was properly sized one could score on game with it after practice.
I tried the cloth dart principal on a bowie i made...no dice.

as for this, might as well have an irish dart.

What might I ask is "the cloth dart principal"?

I'm not sure what he means (cloth dart principal), but I had a blade with a hole in the end. I could tie a cord to it, spin it around, and send it flying. The cord acted as a tail and kept the blade pointed forward. If the cord was long enough, I could use it to pull the blade out of whatever it was stuck in and yank it back to me!

I saw these quite a while ago. Interesting principle. Lot like lawn darts.

There was a funny youtube video where this guy is throwing "knives". They are 2 1/2 foot or so spears thrown like a javelin.

Kinda takes the skill out of it if you ask me. In fact it reminds me of putting the bumpers up at the bowling alley (to bounce the ball back when it heads for the gutters) when I was 6 years old. Yeah you're gonna get a strike, but so is everyone.

I've made a couple simple rope darts. they work very well and are extremely powerful for their size and weight. you can really get them going fast. not very practical but they are very fun.

2.5 foot spears are extremely difficult to throw; nothing like throwing a javelin.

It is designed to spin along its axis, due to index finger giving momentum.

I've played a bit with it, but haven't thrown it. My friends who own the piece didn't liked it. But I have nothing against it - it's a innovative design, its good to look for new solutions.
