As Queen neared it’s final couple years, did they skimp on steel quality or heat treat? I got a Queen made Trestle Pines in S30V and my curiosity is piqued. Are they US made steel? Heat treatment?

As far as I know, they were all through and through US made still. They had fit and finish issues for years, but never went overseas for materials or build.

The only comments I heard about Queen toward the last few years was that their fit and finish was slipping. This was most likely due to the departure of some of their best folks to go work at GEC. I also seem to remember that Queen used Peters heat treating service. I have no reason to think they changed that.

I've never heard of Queen producing anything in S30V though.
420HC for Schatt and Morgan
D2 for their Queen standard line
ATS34 for Schatt and Morga file and wire.
1095 for their heritage line.

They made Trestle Pines
Trestle Pines was a TSA exclusive made by Queen a few years back. There was at least one design, the Topper, that was made using S30V.
thats the one I’ve got

I had a Country Cousin that is still what I compare all other D2 to. Edge retention made for a heck of a work knife, but with the basic sharpening gear I had then it was a chore to sharpen.
Oh man, one of my few knife regrets is not picking up a country cousin when they were still available 😞
