I know the Sere 2000 has received plenty of basic reviews, most very favorable. But I was wondering if Cliff Stamp has done any of his not so friendly tests on this outstanding production piece. If so, what was found?

If not, is he planning such a workout?

Look at the last post in this thread.

I love my SERE 2000. Locks up rock solid. I have heard of some problems with them but haven't heard any reports of failures in quite awhile. Hopefully Al Mar has addressed the issues. I have absolute confidence in mine.

Are you brave enough to send your SERE 2000 to Cliff for a "test"? Not me.

Mine survived a backpacking trip into the White Mountains of New Hampshire and came through with "flying colors".

The SERE 2000 is a production linerlock which means that the probability of me ever doing a review of it is very small, not to mention that it has a sabre flat ground blade. I bought a Cold Steel Twistmaster recently which will be the next folder review.

Now, I can't wait for this review. I have an old style and a new style Twistmaster.
Which style are you gonna test Cliff? Old or new? Large or small?
I'm looking forward to seeing the results. Cliff's tests are one of the more interesting and informative things to look forward to here on BFC!:D

Interesting Cliff. I used to have a Cold Steel large drop point twistmaster. In my younger days, I thought that cold steel knives were nigh indestructable... so I jammed the tip of mine into some pine about a half inch or so... The blade sliped outta the wood a bit until only 5/16 of it was still in the wood.. this part bent a full 90 degree's (and just a bit more) before snapping off cleanly. Needless to say I learnt that day that 1/8 inch thick blades are far from indestructable :p Looking forward to seeing yer review cliff.

Misque it is a large drop point, Carbon V blade, Kraton grip :

Yoda4561, yes, 1/8" thick blades are easily broken by wrist torque alone, especially those with full grinds.

However I am expecting decent cutting performance from this blade as well as high lock security. If this proves to be true I will probably start using at as my EDC, otherwise I will take it apart once the cutting work has been completed.

Thanks.

I have one of these large Twistmasters with a bowie shaped blade, and this is probably as much knife as you can get for the money. I dont think it cost me $15. Takes and holds a WICKED edge, and the lock is as secure as anything. No, I dont plan on putting any bend tests on it. A knife is for cutting, not bending and snapping or chopping. The down side of this Carbon V blade is that it will rust very easily.

Cliff, I noticed when mine was new the lock ring was too tight for me to twist without using some kinda grip enhancer. (course, I was 12 at the time.. and im just a bit stronger now ;) )Also, there wasnt any way to get a purchase on the blade with oily or wet hands to open it, as the entire thing is smooth. If possible i'd like to hear your thoughts on this and any improvements you could make on it. Im thinking of getting a medium twistmaster as a loaner and utility knife, and it would be nice if they improved on the aformentioned qualities.

Seems like the twistmaster has taken over this thread.

I still think the SERE 2000 is an awesome knife. It is truly worthy of a test from Cliff. I would love to see how it holds up against his abuse. :D

Meanwhile here is a review conducted by Jeff Randall:

Yoda, yes this format does have a number of disadvantages the most obvious one being ease of opening and closing, they are not easy one handed openers. However personally I place lock security at the top of my list and the Twistmaster looks to be optomized along those lines.

Dennis, I have looked at production liner locks before from companies with the best reputations for making strong and stable versions. Specifically the Spyderco Military and Buck/Strider folder. It was not difficult for me to disengage either lock, nor even break the face of the liner.

I might pick up a SERE in a trade or something as some of the comments about the cutting ability were interesting, but I have no interest at all in the lock.
