I just snatched one up, but on the way home (about an hour away) I noticed that some of the holes seemed kind of rough here and there.

So my question is, are these getting faked and slipped into the markets here?

It might be, can't say for certain. What is pretty clear to me though is that making a knock off of that single piece of steel is much easier than say the rest of the line up and would be less likely to draw attention. It's AUS8 and not a very high dollar item though, and it is made in Taiwan. Maybe a clone, or it might be a bad batch, depends on where you got it too.

I saw this knife on Aliexpress about 3 months ago for ~$8. It's safe to say that fakes are out there.

Well, then that answers that question. There appears to be no level to which they will not stoop to rip someone off. Congrats CPOS companies.

From what little I have read, I don't think that company sells anything legit, do they ? I know everyone likes a great deal, myself included, but when the price is extremely cheap, red flags go up...

I'm not sure if you have been on there before or not, but if you go on the actual Benchmade forum, there is a sub-forum specifically dedicated to fakes..
If you ever in doubt, post up a picture over there because the Mod is a BM employee, and very knowledgeable. It's also a great place to spend some time looking before you purchase something, because the number of models that have been faked is probably higher than you think.

Granted, you don't need to worry about buying from an authorized BM dealer, but "the bay" is flooded with fakes. Many are models that have never been made by BM before.
It's actually interesting to see some of the garbage these companies try to pass off as legit, but at the same time it makes my blood boil seeing them
