I saw some pictures of a Buck 110 that was a long pull. Has Buck ever made such a knife or was this a mod? It is handsome.

Thanks guys. That is the knife. I must be really getting old. I had forgotten I commented on the thread MT_Pokt posted above. I did know it existed, but I had forgotten.

I think that is a great look for the 110. I like it better than the standard nick.

I checked and it is still available from the dealer. I wonder why Buck does not make a knife like this as a regular production? Or, if not that, they should offer this as an option in the Custom Shop.

Buck made 300 or so of these for Smoky Mountain last fall and 9 months later Smoky Mountain is still trying to sell them.... not a big market. The denizens of this forum are not representative of the real marketplace. That's my thought.

You are probably right. Also, I can see why they would not sell when you can buy a regular 420HC equipped 110 for less than half the price.

Still, the long pull is very nice looking and practical. At least Buck could offer this as an option in the Custom Shop.

I love the long pull on the 110 but wouldn't touch the SMKW version. I think the scroll Buck logo is gaudy looking. Really a deal killer for me.

Would be great if they put the long pull in the custom shop as an option

WE have always been a sub-culture of knife owners. The majority of knife owners don't care about long pulls, special steels, thumb studs, pocket clips or G10 handles. All the little details that we love to discuss and hold so dear. Is not cared about among the real world knife owner.
Our little nit picks, likes and dislikes only matter here. That's why we have to come here to discuss them. Bring them up to real world people
and they'll look at you as strange. But here it is welcome. DM

I know I'm repeating myself, but I think a 110 with Fullers would be cool, and ambidextrous.

The 110 is already fully ambidextrous, so I am a bit confused. Fullers on that thin blade that is already narrow, as well, might be a recipe for disaster, since the purpose of a fuller is to lighten the blade.

The long pull gives a similar profile that is size appropriate.

For me it's not gaudy, it's an orientation issue. It opposes the lines of the knife and would display upside down. I just don't understand why all buck/smkw with this inlay are like this. Can anyone explain it to me?

kossetx I agree with you on the orientation of the logo. To my way of looking it's upside down. My Brother gifted me the pink bone engineering sample last year and all my other 112's I display with the blade facing down...it seems to be the natural way it flows. Right then I decided if Leroy could do it is have a custom made with the Buck logo the 'Right Way' . It's number 3 or 4 I want him to make for me. Maybe add a long pull to the blade as that would really be a 1 of 1 112..

Me too. Like to see it used more.
