Has this been done on a knife?

I was just wondering if anyone has had the idea for a glass breaker to be a phillips head on a quality folder? It would look good and be very functional and not obtrusive at all. I'm one of those guys who doesn't daily carry a multi-tool but find myself needing a phillips head driver at time with none around. I have not googled it yet, but seems like if done well with good steel, it would be a great benefit.

iirc Hinderer has a model that you can swap out the back spacer with different options, I don't recall exactly if a Philips head screwdriver bit was included or not... but that's a decent enough idea... tho I don't like things protruding from my edc in general.

Well there are many folders out there currently with integral glass breakers, just figured why not utilize that same space with a phillips head shape instead of a plain breaker. I wouldn't want something that is "removable" but rather integral.

Maybe because at times a philip driver is not as effective as a glass breaker for breaking glass? Doesn't the tip of a glass breaker need to be a true tip?

The one i was thinking of is the Agile from kershaw.

doesnt have a Philips head tho. i would assume you could have one made for it tho, made for any knife tbo, but could be costly due being custom. even just a bit holder at the end of the backspacer would be a decent idea. make several different bits swap-able.

The glass breaker on my Socom Elite is a rounded carbide tip. The Umnumzaan breaker is not that sharp. I don't see why a philips shaped breaker couldn't be done.

It wouldn't be able to be a carbide breaker though I imagine.

It would probably work, but would need to stick out quite a bit more than a typical glass breaker.
Sharp Edge is right, the sharper the tip, the less force is needed to break the glass.

That's not really what he said, but that is the correct answer.

How about...There could be a slot that could accept a philips or flat head or a glass breaker bit that stores in the handle.

OK - women's high heels work too.

On a serious note, a glass breaker integrated in a folding knife (not multitool) is usually VERY short so that it is unobtrusive, e.g., the one on Benchmade 810. If implemented as also a screw driver, that length would render it useless (as a screw driver). In the end, there is no better option but make it foldabe, again because of the needed length as a screw driver, which basically goes back to square one: a multitool.

I don't really agree, you don't need a whole lot of length past the actual working part of the driver to have an effective screw driver tip for most applications, it wouldn't work for everything as obviously the knife itself would get in the way of some applications, but it would certainly work in some situations and not extend out that far to be obtrusive IMO. But it would almost certainly work anywhere a multi-tool bit would work.

Does the DPx hest not have this feature already?

Sounds like a decent idea to me. It wouldn't work on every Phillips screw, but it'd still be more useful than a glass breaker.

That looks like a brilliant idea to me, even more if we could unscrew the bit and change it for Torx (even the same size as the Torx screw on the pivot or pocket clip, to be used by a OPT, screwdriver or your Multitool if you carry it), Flathead or others (i.e. RObertson)

Kershaw had the Select Fire, OUTU had their scissors/pliers MT with a solid integral Phillips in the end of the handle and Opinel has a model with a flathead/Phillips inside the handle to swap it out and use it, but no one has made a Phillips "glass breaker" as far as I know.
I'd like to see one!

How about a philips screwdriver/ breaker that sticks out the butt but pops out further when you squeeze the closed blade like the Spydie Assist.
