I believe this is my 1st post in the Buck Sub Forum---been a long time lurker and a longer Buck knife carrier:thumbup:

Sorry if I bring up what maybe many have heard enough of but I'm still impressed after almost a year of EDCing my Buck Vantage Pro.

I have more expensive folders but the Vantage just seems to win over the EDC title for what I think is going on a year know. I bought my Vantage Pro in 2009 and I know the early release models suffered from some problems---mine however was minor when it came to the blade being centered which I easily fixed;)

I know a lot of the threads singing the praises of the various Vantage models but still find myself just totally impressed. The F&F is very good (and not only for the price) I am so impressed with the line up from the Select, Avid and on up to the Pro. To me the blade shape is terrific---I work construction and the knife is stellar in every aspect of day to day chores:thumbup:

I really really like the fact that a knife of this caliber is produced right in our backyard---thanks Buck:thumbup: I have absolutely no problems with knives manufactured in other countries and have several myself but just really dig that Buck puts out so much bang for the BUCK---I'm sure many have used that pun before:D

Okay enough of my ramble, please chime in with what the Vantage replaced when it comes to your EDC:thumbup: Mine where several other brands (which are all excellent) such as Spyderco, Benchmade and others.

Here's a little "Vantage Pro" Porn.

I have a Vantage Pro in my pocket right now. Love it!

Hi Paul!! Welcome to the Buck forum! My Vantage knives replaced other Bucks, mainly a Sirus, Tempest, and a quickfire.
BUT, now I also have a Paradigm that rotates with the Vantages, and a sweet little Buck Strider... ;)

It didn't replace anything, but was used in rotation with other knives. I love the Vantage Pro, but after using it for a long time I've put it in my desk drawer and I've gone back to using sheath folders. The clip was becoming a shredder and doing too much damage to my pockets. The blade is great, as the handling when in use, but it's the carrying when not in use that caused the problem.

The Vantage is the most knife for the least money!!!!!!!! I am very impressed with my small and large S30V folders.

I really like my 346, and I find it being carried more & more. I have hundreds of knives, but really like the 13C26 steel. I can use it hard, and no micro chipping on the edge, and takes a new edge easily. I've already got a couple of chips on my new BCCI drop point 110, but it was getting abused, so I anticipated them.

Pretty much. I seldom carry any other one-hander.
Though I do carry a variety of traditional folders in my other pocket.

Jim, really like those red handles.

I think they are a pretty neat variation. Besides, at that price from Buck, you buy 2 and save more money, I just had to get them :D

 This has been my experience also. I love my Pro model, but after getting the avid, its hard to pick a favorite... I like the wood handle also!

The Vantage is a great knife and mine got used a bunch for the best part of a year. The pocket clip never did shred my pockets. What happened to me was the slight flare at the end of the clip that makes real easy to catch the outside of your pocket can snag things other than your pocket.OOH lets just say for a purely fictional example maybe like the fabric on the arm of your mother inlaw's couch.:eek:Then a day came when it got snagged on something that was stronger than it was and it bent.Since then a 301 stockman has been riding in my pocket. It's a great knife and when I get around to it,Im going to take it off, bend it back and reprofile the flare to less of an angle.:)

I carry one as part of a bunch that I pick from each day. I don't carry it exclusively but it is one of my favorites. Here's a variation that is interesting and doesn't seem to be all that common. It's the large Vantage Select but with 420HC blade but "wood" handles instead of plastic. I think that they were intended for Walmart, but I'm not sure of that.

I have the same "Wal Mart" variation in addition to my "Pro". I had a heck of a time finding any info about it on the net. I really like this version alot:thumbup:
