Got this yesterday......

And since it's a lot thicker then the average sickle, about 1/4 inch (really though this is the lightest HI product I've ever held) I decided those thumb sized wild rose bushes would be a fine target-here's the little suckers, they are ALL OVER friggin' WV and can take over a yard if you don't watch out :grumpy:

Well the Hasiya went ape crackers on the stuff, once again a light swing sliced through the intended object like a lazer,a full-on Conan swing made rose vines fly!

And I dare any sickle you buy at your local Ace to do this! :D

The biggest of those took a couple, three swings to get through frankly it was more of a branch then a "vine",the smaller was one that was sent flying.
This is not your everyday sickle it can chop, plus the holder looks nice hanging on the wall so it can double as a decoration  :D

I know I'm gonna get it for saying this but......

I really, really prefer these traditional knives/farm tools over the khuks,I also like the black scale finish the best.

Now if Mrs Yangdu could get a black scale finished Kumar Karda I'd be all over it like a bee on honey :D

I'm also now eyeing a Tibetan sword-the full sized one! :p

If it proves to be more rust resistant that other finishes, I would be all for it as well.

I hope that with the passage of time we will get feedback on this aspect of the finish.

I'll keep tabs on it,maybe some of the others who have it could as well.

One thing about the black scale finish I like much better, the polished get's really funky with use as every little stain shows up like a neon sign, which is why I find taking a steel brush to it and making it matte then bluing it makes life so much easier :o

The black scale you just wipe off and oil lightly and go on about your bussiness.

Great review and pictures, thank you

Dumb question. I rarely come in the HI forum. Where do you get one? I looked on the website and the shop and didn't see them. I think i could use one of those.

Couple of these are on my personal wish list, soon as I get more funny green paper. I was going to see if I could get one of them set up for a left handed user.

So far all that left is
2 Hasiyas
18.5 WWII
15" siripati
Cherokee Rose
Patang
Banchero

WWII and Siripati are the next two on the list :)

Incubating HIKV :)

I have a funny feeling that, in the next month or so, you will see some amazing things coming from HI...
