I had a boonie style fishing hat and lost the dang thing recently.

A bit heavier cotton, with loops all the way around the band. Vent holes had 3/8 or so mesh screens. It was khaki coloured.

I don't remember the mfgr, but I would like to replace it.

I've had it so long I don;t rememember where I got it, but had ironically looked up the mfgr on the web last year with the thoughts of getting another. I found it, but dang if I can remember where.

Anyhow, can anyone help out with some hat mfgrs so I can start looking again.

I picked up a mossy oak camo boonie at Walmart recently for 9 or 10 bucks. Seems to be pretty well made, allows for snapping up sides and has a chin tie.

there are several you can get which are fairly good and inexpensive. but the two best that I have used alot are Tilley [several styles] and Ultimate Hat.

I have two Tilleys, a T3 and a lightweight T3. I sweat a lot, so I prefer the lightweight. The choice is yours, but the bottom line is that they're great hats! Really durable and solid.

A good old $12 boonie from your local surplus store is tough to beat. The Tilley's are really nice, and I like the replacement warranty, but a bit pricey for me.

Tknife is right. Get a good quality boonie hat from a surplus store. Check for quality though, some places carry cheap knock offs.

Sounds like a good knockoff of the GI hat. I think you can get Khaki ones manufactured by Propper--those should be pretty good and WAY cheaper than a Tilley if it matters. If not, get a Tilley ;)

Gentlemen, thanks to the above references, I found my original hat.

It is named the Broner Adventure. There is a place in Louisiana that has them, and I should have a replacement next week.

Thanks again.

(I will probably end up with some other brands also because of your help. Thanks again.)

Another alternative is Filson. The Packer and Bush Hat are extremely durable. My Packer is so old and nasty my wife won't let me wear it when she's around, but I love that hat almost as much as I do her!:D

My watership is in it's second year of almost daily dunkings in the sea. Starting to fade slightly and I'll have to track down some of the wax they use to seal it with. Otherwise a great hat. Best I've had so far.
