hatchet handle modification

handle modifications! I'd love a GB hand hatchet, but too rich for me. This is an okie hand hatchet - cheap hatchet, saw, sandpaper and I have a short handle for close work. Anybody else share handle mod experience? I'm here to learn.

Gardmc, how long is your handle on that hatchet? Was that one a much larger handle with both ends cut down?

Just asking as most marked handles are marked 1/3 - 1/2 the ways down or so.

There are members who do wonders with raw wood, blanks, and those who can make something mediocre into something awesome.

What do you picture yourself using this one on?

It was about 16 inches, and I mainly use it for splitting firewood. I chainsaw a length of tree, then use a fiskars wood splitter axe to quarter, then this one to make smaller pieces. I also store it under my desk, so it's handy.
