I've done LOTS of experimenting with contrast staining and heard good things about majestic maple stain on muzzleloading forums. Yours turned out great. I'll have to give it a try.

I spend my share of time on the muzzleloader forums as well and have a few other "stains" to try. I wanted to practice on something before finishing a piece of my own that I had a bunch of hours in carving etc,......figured some antique tools was as good as any. As far as majic maple goes I've used it twice and was satisfied with the results both times. Would use it again.
