I have an old hatchet. I've had it for some time, and I was wondering if anyone had any insight as to the maker. It looks similar to the Condor Greenland pattern head, perhaps a little more sweep at the toe, coming to a more acute point. It is marked DY on the toe side of the poll and either 009 (bit up) or 600 (bit down) on the heel side. I'm thinking that's 600 grams, which is about 1.3 pounds; plausible given the size.

Any ideas?

I'm probably going to rehaft it tomorrow if I can finally find a good one. The one that's been on it since... forever, has what appears to be bondo filling in the top where the wood has deteriorated. I t appears, based on the haft inside the eye, to be original.

Pics will come in better light if you need them for this. Otherwise it'll be later ;-)

Thanks

Sounds like a helko or a german made Sandvik. Pics will definitely help, but I'm betting its German made. The 600 is almost definitely meaning 600 grams.
