Well I`ve got it ground out, and fitted some cocobolo handles on it for the pic. Balance point is about 1 1/4" behind the head, so it is "head heavy." I`m planning on heat treated it by Thursday.

I like it, too.

Of course, the proof is in the using ... you've got to actually get your hands on an axe or hatchet to find out if it will work for you.

You have out done yourself with this one, I love it. I will be putting money away for that one for sure. Do you have a cost estimate yet? Kydex carrier/sheath? I suppose Micatra grips will be a option?

Price will be $140.00 (there is a lot of grinding on this, and 4" wide stock is pricey) with forge marks left on, micarta or wood will be standard, and I will be doing a kydex blade cover for it. I should be posting a completed pic on Thursday.

Looks great John, awesome job. My only worry though is that the corners on the handle look a little severe, maybe I'm wrong though, I think this is ok on a knife but should be more rounded on an axe ! But what do I know, LOL !!!!

It doesn't look finished yet. The lanyard tube is still poking out of the handle.

AWESOME JOB JOHN!!! I REALLY like this hatchet, might just have to get my hands on one of these and put it to the test!

I just slapped those handles on for the pic, they are not even glued on. I still need to heat treat it, then the handles will get finished.

I`ve been chopping on an old, treated landscaping timber, that has been laying around for about 10 years, so it`s pretty well seasoned. I`ll get some pics up tomorrow. I could not wait untill the handles were on to try it out!

Double bitted nessmuk pack axe?

Hey a guy can dream right.

I could do one if the interest is there. The cost would be pretty high, around $180 because of the wider stock I`d need. Anybody know how wide the head was on that? I`m guessing around 6".
