I hate to be that guy that is a little too OCD but have a question for you all. Just got my new Kershaw Leek CB in the mail today. Amazing knife and exactly perfect for what I was looking for, but I have a dilemna.

Issue is there is a gouge on the blade from about the thumbstud down to the bottom. Here are some pics:

Now I have no doubt that Kershaw would take care of it for me and make everything right; but I am weighing sending it in. It does not look like it would cause any functional issue or problem; and seems to be merely cosmetic. So basically I am trying to decide if it bothers me enough to send it in. Just curious on what you would do.

It bothers me enough to send it in and Kershaw is taking care of it; so case closed.

That's a really weird mark, I'm sure it was missed in QC.
When I've read about the factory seconds that Kershaw sells off every year, many of them are described as having flaws much less noticeable than that one.

Personally, I wouldn't bother with sending it in as most of my knives end up looking a lot worse than that, and I'd rather not pay $10 to have a blemish removed.
However, on a knife that I got specifically for it's looks, I'd send it in.

The blemish would drive me freaking crazy. I would send it in because my OCD would make me do it. A piece of mind is worth 10 bucks to me. With Kershaws great CS should be no problem.

send it in. as i have said in other threads kershaw wants you to get the knife you expected to purchase or they will make it right.

It should not have left the factory that way and should have been caught by QC. You paid a premium not only the knife's functional quality but also for its aesthetic quality as well. please send it in an let us make things right.

How about you PM me your addy, I have a little Kershaw from the nineties I would like to send to you to keep you company while your Leek is away. I like the way you handled this and I think nice people should not finish last.:thumbup::thumbup:

Yeah, send it in, and report back when it returns. We need to see how their customer service is. Kershaw's CS is such an unknown in this forum that we really need to hold their feet to the fire and get this resolved!

:D :D :D :D :D

Thanks everyone for the input and I am going to send it in. It came in during lunch at work and I figured I would give it till I got home at the end of the day to decide. I am going to send it in because it will bother me. There never was a doubt or question that Kershaw would take care it no problem, but just had to decide if it mattered that much to me. I understand stuff happens as I work in manufacturing, but what matters is how the company responds to the customer about it and Kershaw is one of the best in any industry I have seen. They are truly first class.

Thanks very much for the generous offer Kershawguy and I appreciate it, but I think I will go back to my ZDP/TI Mini-Cyclone or my Benchmade Morpho till this gets back.

Aside from the minor issue it is a great knife. I love framelocks so I am biased but it is a perfect size grip for me and the blade is amazing. Love the
almost wharncliffe like style.

THAT would definitely make my eyes twitch! Nothing that good ol' Kershaw company can't make right!*thumbs up*

I would probably send it in. I have a thing about blemishes on new stuff. I don't mind them when *I* put them on there, but new? I would send it back.

Or buy another one.

Nice gesture, dave!!

Great turnout for you, I guess. That sure is a weird mark on the knife, I'm curious as to how that would even happen?

How great is Kershaw, it's people and this forum, I ask? :) The CB Leek is one of the classiest-looking folders ever -- no doubt in my mind Kershaw is gonna make sure all its custormers get 100% satisfaction.:thumbup:

I completely agree, and for that reason I am going to take down the pictures.

I do not want people to think that this represents what Kershaw produces. Out of the 5 Kershaws I have had this is the only one that has even the slightest issue. I got the input that I was looking for, so the pictures have served there purpose and do not need to be up any more.

I will let you all know how it turns out, but I could also tell you about how the sun will rise tomorrow because that is how sure I am that it will turn out perfectly.
