Has anybody seen the new TAD (Triple Aught Design) knife that came out today?

I hate to point fingers, but after the whole thing with ZT's knife, did Microtech just do it again?

If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, quacks like a duck...

(That "tool" @ MT has absolutely NO shame does he?)

Didn't a company awhile back do a run of what looked to me miniature CRK One Piece Knives...??? Was it MicroTech...? They looked like the one pictured.

According to TAD, the knife "...follows the design of Chris Reeve fixed blades...".

TAD retail is in my neighborhood. I'll ask if they had any talks or a consent of any kind with CRK, and see how they are feeling about this design when I stop by next time...

I'd be real curious to hear what they say

I think we can all agree that it's similar and we all know there was at least influenced by CR. But then again, we can all also agree that CR should come out with a new one and show them how it's really done :D

Those integral knives have been about for a while, as in years already. The were only available as "MT customs" (LOL) but now have been put out as a general product. The are tiny and of low quality from what I have seen of them, IMO of course. I will never own anything Mircotech again but I do believe these were, at first any way, made with concent from CRK........I have heard that said from Tony M. before and it turned out to be BS. The same has happened with Strider, Mikov, ZT and who knows who else ? I think we may see a RMJ hawk rip off soon, judging my Tony's interest in my tomahawk a couple of months ago.

For the record I will also never buy any thing from TADGear again either. They totally Donald Ducked me over and ran me around in a goose chase trying to get warranty on their products, their own brand name products ! like bags, jackets and lifacapsules. They all fell to bits very quickly and TAD were clearly not wanting to replace them at all, they lied, dragged their feet and meandered about for a long time......infact I'm still waiting now, several years down the line.:thumbdn:

I understand the "influence" of one knife design on others but sometimes that "influence" I think is far more than an influence, as in this case.

The knife posted by the OP is more than influenced by CRK in my opinion.

I have never owned a Microtech and never will because TM is a POS. And now TAD will not get my money either.

I would like to find out what happened with the Microtech 0777 copy (Microtech Matrix) at AZCK, whether it was sold or withdrawn. I wonder whether it is the same one that was sold here on the exchange on 02/15?

I find it curious however how brand loyalty can sometimes create blind hypocrisy. In the spirit of the thread, I also "hate to say it" but this is more than just an influence to me as well. Pictures posted in chronological order of these knives' creation (to my best knowledge). If the argument holds true that the 0777 was only "influenced" by SiDis knife, then the same argument can be made for the Microtech Matrix and the knife in the OP with the CRK One Piece knives.

I could not agree with you more!

I have sold all my MT's and I will NEVER buy another. That man is a disgrace to the industry.

Is there any chance that CRK will ever produce a run of one piece knives again? I would sure love to get one.

As I have heard from a friend of Tony M. he made 100 of those ZT copy knives as a FY to ZT/Kershaw for mulling the idea of an OTF automatic. That may or may not be the case but it seems a likely as anything else given past happenings........There have been a few come and go for sale and he sold a pile of them in Taiwan at the Taipei knife show in December.

I have handled both the MT knives in question in this thread and they are not of particularly good quality IMO. The MT OPK feels like a pen and is not much bigger, the machining, finishing and coating are left wanting indeed. The Matrix didn't exactly blow me away when I handled that either but that is a different knife and that situation is beeing delt with by ZT as I understand it.

I truly wish they would, but I don't ever see it happening.........If you want one, your best bet is to pick up one on the forums or ebay. Thats the only place your going to find one nowadays.
