Photos Hattori TV models

K KenHash : thanks to you too, and i've added the "j" in the title.
My eyes aren't what they used to be these days,

Included in the box with the knife were also these papers, can you read Japanese ?

Nice knife.

Looks like they did the final edge finish with 60 grit, however. That would leave me a little disappointed. Nothing I couldn't fix on my own, but a higher polished edge would have been nice. That edge looks like a topographic map with all the canyons in it.

I'll bet it cuts just fine. This is how most cold steel come from the factory and the nicer models do very well.

You are missing the point.

For a unique 80 year anniversary knife, they had the opportunity to make this one special/more refined. And they didn't. That edge is an abomination.

Hattori makes nice stuff, they make the san mai trailmaster and fallkniven stuff, and the seki sogs, among other things.....

I agree, on some of my M4 and k390 knives I run them around 300 grit but that's about as low as I tend to go.

I'm sure the Hattori cuts just fine, but a mirror polish would look much better. Mirror polish doesn't take me too much time on my KME, and I'm sure using belts they could do it much quicker that that..

Still a nice knife though

I kind of agree on the edge but as said its easily done but still a lovely knife, I'd be more concerned about grind and HT which I'm sure are very good, but I'm guessing the prospective buyer/ers will be collectors?

I don't care to spend time attaining a polished edge, just a working edge is fine for me although the Hamon and polished edges on my Shinichi Watanabe knifes are beautiful.

In that case, a soldered guard would've been nice as well. Hey, if you're going to do something special, go all the way...

Sweet knife!

I clearly have lower standards than some you gents though.

When I looked at that edge, I was just happy to see that it came to an actual refined point.

The low grit edge finish doesn’t bother me at all - I think it looks fine as long as it’s even/symmetrical.
