"This is the official story I got from one of our engineers:
The process is a PVD (PHYSICAL VAPOR DEPOSITION) chamber that fuses a number of materials to the blades. I believe we use the Black Widow DLC (diamond like coating) on the Cabelas knives and the TIALN (Aluminum Titanium Nitride based coating) for the Bass Pro series. It is similar to the ION fusion blades.

Hope this helps."

Is the rocker coated also? The blade looks slippery, armored and well-coated.

The old school orange 422, go Tigers, is a beauty. Great Halloween cutlery. Thank you for the photos.

Thanks Oregon, for the info... It does look slippery and the rocker is not coated... Did they make a 112 for Cabelas or just a 110... I know they made other models for the AG series... ITE

The color scheme looks very good, and helps compliment the orange handles. I love my Orange 422 (the web special kind), it's just a nifty looking folder that looks as if it's straight from the 80's or 90's.

For some reason, I thought this thread was going to be about a 442:

Edit: Not my car, just an example.
