This is the site of a well known Italian company:

www.foxcutlery.com

I posted it some time ago, today I visit it and found it improved and with a bunch of new knives (some nice, some ugly).

My advice is to have a look.

BTW, these are not Italian ethnic knives, just industrial production. Let me know if you want informations about Italian traditional custom knives.

Very nice folders. They look alot like the folders imported by Delta-Z and Kellam. Does Fox manufacture these knives for them?

In fact I saw a picture of some sailing knives available from Kellam in an issue of Knives Illustrated that looked exactly like this one from Fox:

They look like pretty nice knives. However, there's quite a bit of copying going on I think...Delta Z, Kabar, Leatherman (hard to tell 100% from the pics). Ironically, I like some of their own designs best...especially the hunters.

as far as Delta Z, I think they freely admit that they are importers as well as manufacturers. Could be Fox is their contractor.

wow! they have some nice looking stuff. i especially like # 648 and 577RT. neato.
thanks for the post!
peace.

Kellam must have some of their Italian made folders like the Enchanter contracted from Fox too. Look at the similarities.

Yes, it is true their model are quite similar to some American brands.

For instance, the first knife from FOX I bought was a copy of classical Camillus Combat knife (sorry, I don't remember the correct Camillus model, but it the classical "US Marine combat knife", like Ka-Bar and the like). I bought a FOX because it was cheaper and more "soft", so easier to resharpen on the field. Nevertheless it was a good knife, and it is still "alive".

After, they became Italian distributor of Al Mar knives (SERE series, fixed and folder), and made some knives following that design.

They make in Italy their own blades, and are pretty good knives for the money. You can have some almost good Damascus, too.

#648 is a "different" knife: it is a folder, but in the "folded" position its blade remains out of the handle for about an half of its lenght. When you "open" the knife, it is like you see in the picture. IMHO, it is a little weak, being a folder.

#577 comes from Al Mar SERE knives.

I handled # 619, 618, 612 and are very solid knives, really full-tang.

#699 was realized in 1986, during "Survival fever". In its handle there is place for some survival gadget, but it is still very solid: I use two of them without any problem.

#604 and #605 are real fighter, barely legal here in Italy.

I am happy you like these knives.

fox also makes a couple knives for a.g. russell. He has/had the linerlock with a blade shape similar to a kestrel in his catalog. I believe they also manufacture an axe he carried for some time. Pete

I had a feeling Fox had to be the manufacturer of some of the knives marketed by Kellam and Delta-Z. I bet if you compared them side by side, they would be exactly the same, although you probably will pay less for the Fox than you would the others.

any online dealers? Quite attractive knives
