I am looking for a source for wrought and cast iron in small amounts to make a few guards from. The only salvage yard in my area no longer allows you to go in their yard to purchase scrap. I have had no luck searching the internet for sources. I've seen several examples of knives with guards made from each material posted here so I know it's available.
I only make knives as a hobby so I don't need a lot of either, just enough for a few different knives. Early American and primitive style knives have become an interest lately is why I'm asking.
I will be out of town for a few days due to a death in the family but I would appreciate any replies.
