I just got a sapphire blue Victorinox Tinker. It's a great little knife for sure. I was debating between it and a Huntsman Lite. That one felt a little bulky and I didn't think I'd have much use for the wood saw and I already have a ARC-P AAA light on my keys. I need a recommendation for something a little bigger than the Tinker, but no bigger than the Huntsman or the like and with the right assortment of tools. I don't need any specific tools since it won't be doing any specific work (like a cyber tool). So, what is the general consensus on a good sized EDC swiss army?

Thanks!

Well a lot of people find the Tinker to be a pretty good selection of tools. Do you have the Tinker or Super Tinker? Personally, I have the Super Tinker, but I much prefer the Climber (just replaces the screw driver with a corkscrew).

I find anything between the ST and Ranger to be too square in the hand. I can deal with an uber SAK, but I don't like the square ones as much. The Spartan Lite is OK, but too square. As is my Explorer.

Most of the time I just pack slim and make due with what I have. I usually can make the most of a situation with a Soldier or Farmer. Often times in the sheeplest of situations, I just carry my Bantam with its blade, bottle opener, can opener, flathead/phillips screwdriver in one back spring.

Maybe the Deluxe Tinker?

You get everything your Tinker has plus scissors and pliers.

Right now I'm carrying the Climber also (and I added the small corscrew screwdriver), but I'm considering the Deluxe Tinker or Explorer as a replacement model.

I like the Explorer (or Explorer Plus) as it has a real 3-dimensional phillips that folds out on the end of the SAK (like the blade does) as compared to most others which come out the bottom of the knife where the hook and corkscrew live.

You can also go to sosakonline.com and input the tools you need, number of layers, etc. that you want and it will tell you which SAKs fit your needs.

cheers

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm doing well with my regular Tinker so far. It is a very good size. I think I may go for a Tinker Deluxe or Explorer Plus. They're pretty much what I need!
