I bought a collection of knives at an estate sale. Everything was older and some cool stuff. This sheath was there but not the knife. I would think there are people looking for one. So my questions are what is knife that it is made for, and what is the value

Just a guess, but looks like there are two slots, one quite narrow? Might be a combination sailing rig, the larger portion for a fixed bladed knife, the narrow slot for a marlin spike. John

I just googled "KaBar combination sailing knife and marlin spike " and your sheath came up with a sheepsfoot type fixed blade and marlin spike. John

These sets first came out in 1937 for use by the Sea Scouts (the nautical segment of the Boy Scouts) and other boating enthusiasts.

The knife model name was "VOYAGEUR". The 1937 - 1940 version had a sheep's foot blade. The 1940 - 1942 had a drop point blade.

Knives destined for Sea Scout sale are supposed to have had a BSA logo/words of some sort. If so, I have never seen one so marked, just read about them in the book 600 Scout Knives. I would assume that a Sea Scout sheath would have one of the BSA Sheath logos of the time (most common was the round logo with BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA arched over the First Class badge and NATIONAL COUNCIL NEW YORK CITY arched underneath a First Class badge).

The horizontal strap on the face of the sheath was for carrying the combo pliers/adjustable wrench.
This sheath is newer than the OP's. The OP's has 9 rivets and this one only has 5.

Kabar also made them, off and on, in the 1950s, late 60s to early 70s and then again in the 80s. Different stamps on each, model numbers on the later versions, slightly different sheaths.
