I that know modding a Becker is commonplace. Primarily due to that, I am curious what Works In Progress you have going on atm.

Posting pics preferred, but tell us how you envision it completed.
This is my BK2, has a decent polish on it, but its not mirror Yet... this is my primary WiP until I get my 15 and 5.

Still working on this one. Plan on custom handles shaped a wee bit thicker and pinned instead of screws.

Thanks! Ive got some spalted maple and purpleheart to use for handles that should look pretty cool too.

Did some drawing. Been working on this one since I got the BK-7 a year and a half ago. Might actually grind it in the next coupla weeks. Or not....but that's why they call it a WIP....

Bumped this to show my WiP, I said I would show it so, there it is.

OK - too lazy to start my own thread right now so this one's getting the bump!

Finally started grinding my 7 today....and it no longer looks like a 7:

It'll be getting it's own thread at some point, but until then thanks, NJ!

I started making some handles tonight after my shift for the BK5 and the BK9, I have some natural linen micarta and some bocote wood. (I think it's bocote, got it from the sale rack at Lee Valley a couple years back)

Probably a dumb question, been covered before and all, but I'm a noob and stuff, so...
When you guys re-profile a blade like this, what steps do you take to keep it all from heating up and messing with the temper?
That looks quite awesome BTW!!

Thanks! I just go slow - kinda happens anyway with hardened 1095 - and keep a bucket of water nearby that I try to use frequently. If I forget, I'll feel the steel getting warm...this is only the second mod that I've done like this, but the first one's still going strong and it's a regular user.

I don't know how I missed this bump! That is turning out ti be a sick looking fighter! I can't wait to see it finished.

Check the snark thread for ideas on scales since you had asked for input.

MrKnot, I often just keep a bucket of water near by and go slow with my dremel, sander and/or drill so as to not raise the temp too much. Just be careful and take your time.
Remember, it's your knife, and it isn't going anywhere.

This might be a bit too soon but its the beginnings of some crashcarta for my 16, or maybe the 11. I ran out of resin before I put down all of the layers. Well, it wasn't so much I ran out as a lot of it dried up from just sitting on the shelf :(

What fabric are you using for the crashcarta? I'm interested in how it will turn out, any other mods on the 16?

Dont laugh but its nothing more than old khaki pants and bondo fiberglass resin. It does work really well. Here's a pic of an earlier knife I made with a similar material

No other mods to the BK16 yet. The sheath was put to the side for something a bit more user friendly. Keep in mind it a WIP and really rough.

You'll get no guff in the BK&T sub...I wouldn't laugh anyway. That crashcarta looks really good. Plus I like your choice(s) of beer. I'm having a SNBC Flipside right now.

Thank you, and nice choice of beer! Cant wait to see your what youve done next to that wild 7

Hey guys, I just posted my first WIP yesterday here

I'd love some feedback as this is my very first knife.

Thanks !

Really nice looking shape. Tho it probably won't hold it long (1 or 2 cuts, maybe), I'd still put an edge on it, especially after all that wonderful handwork. Then you better giddyup on your second attempt with some known quantity steel (1084 is a really good and inexpensive choice AFAIK) because you're running out of good weather to work outside. looking forward to seeing more!
