So, like the title says I had an idea for a monthly contest. I'm a member on a custom street bike site, customfighters.com and they do a bike of the month contest. Every month 4 or 5 members submit an entry and a poll is taken on who's is the best/ nicest bike. I was thinking we could do a "restoration of the month" (find an axe or axe head, clean it up and restore or re-hang it) or a "find of the month thread" (most unique/ interesting axe or hatchet yard sale/ flea market/ junk shop buy). Best one wins by popular vote/ poll kinda thing, only prize would be bragging rights and pride. Just an idea, let me know what you guys think... I figure it could get us all working on some projects instead of just looking at them. we could do an axe picture of the month or some something like that too.
 
A Axe beauty contest lol. Go for it, I doubt you can get a consensus on what is the best or nicest.
I do what I do for myself and enjoy sharing with others. I get lots of ideas and knowledge from the posts here- even if I don't respond in each one.
I'm restoring/ repairing or what ever you want to call it - a 1 1/2" chisel- that I don't have a nickel into. I don't plan on making it pretty but it will do the job. After trimming the mushroomed socket, forging another from a 1/2" pipe and welding to up- I think it looks pretty good. Picked up a hickory limb for a handle off my friends wood pile.
Do I care to enter a contest- no. Would I pick a "best or nicest" -no. Every one has it's merits, and I like seeing everything I can without some feeling that their pieces don't rate and maybe not posting.

I think it would be cool. If course there would have to be a given time say w in a week for everyone to post and then everyone vote etc but if course not on your own submitted axe. I think it's a great idea and would participate in voting and submitting. Let's get it rolling!
