I've been looking, but can't find anything on this forum or on bussecombat. Isn't the online Bloodbathganza supposed to be tonight? I recall that the Knobganza instructions were posted much earlier than this, so am I looking in the wrong place, or are they just not up yet?

Is it really supposed to be tomorrow (Sunday) night? I thought it was going to be next weekend. Can anybody confirm that as a fact. Is it tomorrow or next week????

I'm not sure why I was thinking tonight; looking through old posts, all I see is references to happening on "Blade Weekend". However, I do see that an early post by Jerry said that they had randomly packed boxes that would be opened over the course of the weekend, so that people coming in on the last day would have as much chance to get a gem as the ones on the first day. That post indicates that they won't have displayed all of their inventory until the end of Sunday.

That being said and at the risk of sounding "touchy - feely", I feel like the online folks who aren't at Blade are being left out in the cold. I wanted one of the new Scrapyards, but postings on that forum indicate that they were made in small enough quantities that they'll probably sell out at Blade and never make it to the online store. I was also really interested in the 2007 Leaner Meaner Street, but I haven't even seen a price on it yet, let alone whether it will be sold online. I've spent nearly 3 grand on Busse/Swamp Rat/Scrapyard knives in the last two months, but if the only way that I can get new knives is to pay secondary market markups or travel cross-country, then I'll stop buying. I recognize from pictures that people have posted of their collections that a lot of folks have spent a lot more than me and been collecting for a lot longer, so I'm not saying I'm special, but I am experiencing a growing sense of frustration at the lack information and the way events seem to be playing out. I REALLY don't like being ignored, and that's how I feel like the non-Blade folks (such as myself) are being treated.

Take it easy folks. Any Ganza is likely to happen on another weekend as Blade is taking up all the Busse staff's time.

As far as ranting about "slim pickins" and being left out, I dare anyone here to search past Ganzas and see where Busse and Co have left anyone high and dry. Just look at last year's post-Blade Ganza for one such example, or any post-Knob Creek Ganza.

Patience is the key, if it hurts your feelings that Busse is focusing on the biggest annual trade show of the year for a couple of days out of the year - then you should attend yourself and save the angst for another day.

My bet is next weekend - it will take them all at least that long to rest up dry out enough to handle almost anything......

And even Amy would not be up to the task of going through the emails for at least a week.........:D :D :D

The marketing genius that is Jerry Busse has shown no sign of promotional slackery. We can always depend on the Boss to whip us swine into a fanatical frenzy before he fills the trough.

BLADE is the single largest knife trade show in the world. It is the knife-making community's equivalent of the World Series, Super Bowl, and Final Four all wrapped up in a single scotch-soaked and meat-stuffed package. I would bet that many custom makers sell the majority of their "spec" blades there to prime the pump for custom orders. Jerry works it in reverse by offering customs to whet the appetite for the regular production stuff. It is not a question of "ignoring" people who aren't there, but rather focusing attention on the business opportunities provided at the show. I can't think of a single company or maker who offers stuff to attendees and remote viewers at the same time. Why hold Jerry to a standard that no one else meets?

There is a custom custom maker I follow who had a bunch of blades ready for the show. If any are left over, they will be offered for sale through the usual outlets. Just like Jerry is doing. The Ganzaa concept is odd to many, but it has worked well for the company and I don't see it changing any time soon.

What does Ganzaa mean? is it as in Extravaganza?
I do not get the Hog names? what is that about?
Does Mr Busse just sell to a limited number of enthusiasts?
Busse knives are expensive and hard to find on sale, do you need to be in the know to buy one?

jnphares, I tend to look at it a little differently. Shows are for the people that attend. He's selling a whole lot of knives at the show and doesn't have to have a "'Ganzaa" at all. He does so to try and include everyone he can (and of course sell more knives).

Most knifemakers sell what they sell at the show and call it a day. Jerry doesn't, and that's good for everyone that wants in on a show they couldn't attend. Not everyone gets something, but everyone's got a shot.

I went to Blade yesterday, so you may think I'm biased. But remember, I live close enough to go to Blade Atlanta - I don't go to the other shows during the year, so I'm in the same boat as you during all of them and I still feel the same way when Jerry is good enough to offer me a shot at a knife from a show I couldn't be at.

Hopefully there will be a show somewhere you can attend during the year. If not, like Deadhead Archer said, you can always buy a plane ticket...

Boy I type slow...

Yes.

Long standing reference to Busse enthusiasts. See also: No Regrets

He'll sell to anyone. The enthusiasts are just more likely to be the ones who root their way to the front of the trough (more hog analogies).

You have to pay attention and keep a sharp eye on the outlets.

I have only been around since Jan.,
but have managed to score a mountain of INFI.:D
There will never be a shortage of goodies!
If I have to pay aftermarket on Blade 07 stuff, I will concider it chipping in on gas for 5 to 7 hours of driving to get it.
I need a HOGFSH '07 LE BAD!;)

I waited "two weeks" to get my Badger Tac. Just have to be patient is all and stay into it. I still have tons to learn. It takes time but that is half the fun is it not? Life without learning or struggle is no life at all=P
