I have certainly never lost the addiction ever since I was 9
I have sold most of my collection once in the last year, and that was the first time I had a large-scale purge of the herd. Before that, I was in excess of 100 knives easily, but after the purge, I have about 5 very sentimental knives that will never leave my collection no matter what, and 9 knives that are in my official EDC rotation.
Most of the knives I sold off actually went to local knife nuts in my area, and the high-dollar or rare pieces (LOTS of Shirogorovs, several customs, a few Sebenzas, a Hinderer, and my Striders) I didn't carry got sold to
very close friends (at prices I think some people here would kill for, but hey, I'll lose some money to make sure they go to people who will love them forever

), and I still see those being babied, carried, and admired all the time in my friend's circle. There are definitely times I wish I hadn't sold a couple of them off, but my friends being able to enjoy the hobby with me is much more worth it...probably going to get another SNG pretty soon though...
And that's not to say I don't still go after knives like a very bad habit...in fact, got a Diskin flipper to add to my collection a few weeks ago (great larger EDC blade btw), and already looking at getting a second Shirogorov for EDC...it never really goes away.
