gotten a call from Paypal asking you if you were buying drugs from "Kami Sherpa"?

They wanted to know if I was me, and if I meant to make the payments I've made in the past few days/weeks. I assured them that indeed, I was the one making the payments. Then the guy asked me what it was I was purchasing. When I asked him why he wanted to know that information, he replied "Well, to make sure it isn't drugs."

Uh-huh. Like, if I were buying drugs, I would at that moment break down and tell him.

I did break down then and start laughing, maybe I shouldn't have done that! :o

Now, I admit, I've got the HIKV pretty bad, and I have been doing some buying  .

Some of my payments have taken quite a long while to be sent. I don't know if that is a function of how Yangdu works, or if PP is.... reviewing the payments before approving them, or what is going on.

I do think this has kept me from making some DOTD purchases.

What do you all think?

bah. I personally hate paypal. I guess it works for most, but the minute they wanted me to verify my account, I stopped using them. Most every site I shop off of has the standard CC check out. If it's a deal of the day, I either send Yangdu a check or buy something of equal or greater value off the site.

I've been using them for about 4 years now. Never had a problem. Never been asked if I was buying drugs, though.

I have to admit that for someone who is not a knife lover, that doesn't even know what a khukri is, that doesn't have the tinyest idea of what HIKV is :P,
it may look weird that a lot of people are regularly paying good amounts to someone.

Regular Ebay sellers don't have "regular" clients.

They just do their job, but I have to admit that from our point of view, it's really funny.

Hahahaha. What are you growing on that property of yours????

Never had a probelm. Never varified my acct either. Too convenient.

Several years ago Barbie and me were driving around the back roads looking for the White Sage that grows here that we use in our Sweatlodge. I was also looking for Sweetgrass around any wetland areas.
We stopped at one wetland area where a small bridge crossed the little creek that ran underneath it.
Lo and Behold there was a pot plant growing right next to the road!
I told Babrie what it was and she said, "Huh unh" because she didn't believe me.
When we got home I drug one of my herb books out of the bookcase and showed her and she was flabbergasted that we found a pot plant growing in such an open area, I mean it wasn't three feet off the road!
The next day we drove back to the place so we could harvest it although it was still too young to make buds but would've made good shake anyway, maybe.;) :o
When we got there the plant was already gone!:grumpy:
I suspect that someone was watching us from a distance and when they saw us walking around the area they got paranoid and harvested it for themselves ready or not.

As to PayPal my Yahoo Pop 3 account catches the majority of spam, phishing, Nigerian schemes, and lowlifes that send out email saying that they will report you to PayPal if you don't pay up, only a very few get through to my MS Outlook on my computer which is nice. :D
I've forwarded many of them to the abuse and spoofing departments handling that particular sort of mail and have had ever one I sent to PayPal confirmed that it was bogus.

I visit a couple of computer forums and get the daily Internet Tips by email from Kim Komando and they are all saying the same thing, and that the amount of spoof and phishing email to individuals is going to be ten or more times worse this coming year than it ever has been in the past.
The only links I click on in email is that I get from friends and family and if it looks at all fishy I will confirm it is their email before I open the attachment or click on the link.
The bogus emails that do happen to get through to my email box on my computer get sent to the Junk Folder I made where I delete it all about every month.

The safest thing is to always go to the website proper from a bookmark or in your favorite files. Only then do you know who you are really dealing with.

man...I've moved tens of thousands of dollars through paypal without a glitch. maybe I'm lucky?

Are you sure that it was Paypal calling? It doesn't make any sense, unless it was someone trying to pirate your account. How did they get your telephone number and why would they assume that you are the person in the household using that account?
