Hello

I heard it mentioned that Chris Reeve Knives will no longer be manufacturing the Limited Edition Sebenza model with Boxwood Elder inlay :(

I know that the Mnandi is still available with it, so I'm not sure if the story is true.....can anyone set the record straight :D

And maybe explain why, if that is the case

Where did you hear such a thing? As far as I know they will continue to make the LE as long as there is a demand, and I can see no reason why they wouldn't use Box Elder if they can find good pieces of the material. I know there have been some "exclusive runs" of the Mnandi with specific scales for some dealers, but I've never seen that done with the LE WIS.

I doubt that they stopped using Boxwood Elder for the LE. I cannot think of a reason why this would be so. They may be 'backordered' on it, but I would think they still offer it.

Hello James,

To answer your question, I referring specifically a Boxwood Elder Sebenza which I was trying to purchase and the conversation which took place about it....

It was from a shop in California where I was inquiring about buying one such model, which they had in stock. The fella I emailed, who is also the owner told me, and I quote, "It's a lovely knife and worth getting because they've stopped doing this one". I enquired exactly what he meant to clarify and he said that the ones which are in current circulation are the final run of that specification.

Now, that's exactly what he told me, and exactly why I've posted this.

I cannot understand myself why they would cease production of one of the best sellers, and in my opinion, best looking knives that they make

The story I was told could be wrong, I want to find out the truth :)

Why not just call CRK and get it steaight from the horse's mouth? So James, what is WIS?

My hunch is that he was trying to steer me towards a sale

But, I had the idea of asking here, too.

I don't really want to contact CRK over such a trivial issue :( It seems a bit funny doesn't it :)

Scott is right, contact CRK.

Scott, that stands for Wood Inlay Sebenza.

I'm pretty sure he was jerking your chain. UNLESS, it had a blue or bronze finish damascus blade and he was referring to the fact they are no longer taking orders on that finish, which is correct.

Hello everyone

Firstly, I'd like to say that I really value the input that I get here, the atmosphere is both friendly and imformative.

The general belief is, as I suspected and agree, that I was told a fairy tale.

SuperD No, the knife has a standard blade, but is a beauty, none the less.

No harm done. Possibly the gentleman told me that about the knife in good faith ~ I don't know, so I won't judge. In fact, I'm still interested in it, if we can reach a deal on the shipping :)

Thanks again, folks.

What a cheap and transparent way to remind everyone (especially me) that you scored a Box Elder Mnandi. Just keep rubbing that salt into my gaping wound. :( :p :D ;)

LOL trane fan. To tell the truth, I hadn't thought about your :D lack :D of a Box Elder Mnandi until you mentioned it, yourself !

Get your handkerchief ready for a good drool :) This is the reason for the post....NOT...cheap torture points :p

So are you buying it or not? :p

There is a problem, at the moment, with the shipping method.

He is quoting me one shipping method, USPS. This is alright until the parcel reaches Royal Mail - my national postal service - who would be handling it when it came into England, then Ireland.

They are not my ideal choice. I had a problem with outlandish commission (handling fees) even after I paid Import Tax.

I went to their offices in Belfast to raise the issue and told them that I would never be doing any business again with them, until they changed this policy. Being a traditionalist, both at home and work, I believe very firmly in keeping my word  That policy of additional charging is still in place

I don't mind Import Tax :D BUT to then pay another percentage, in addition ~ stinks of taking advantage, to me. It not the money, it's the principal.

UPS and FedEx both deliver to my door, and the services are excellent.

All I have to do is get the gentleman changed to one if these two ;)

So, to answer your question Dave    I hopefully will be buying, sometime this week ~ If we get this sorted :)

Of course, being Box Elder, I couldn't resist it :D

BTW, did I tell you that I scored a Box Elder Mnandi ???

Mark,

Your doctor called, said you have Box Elder-itis. Sorry you have to give them up.

I'll keep the seb, Trane will take the Manandi until you're all better.

Get well soon! All the best. ( overnight shipping probably best, thanks)
