Lhakpa Gyelzen Sherpa has just retired from Gorkha service -- 15 years. He is in New York on a tourist visa visiting some Sherpa relatives there and he is looking for work, preferably security. He served mostly as a border guard in Hong Kong with the 10th Princess Mary's own Gurkha Rifles. He did a couple of tours in Brunei guarding the Sultan and a tour in the UK. He exemplifies all the character and characteristics one might expect from a Gorkha -- absolute loyalty, devotion to duty, complete trustworthiness, fearlessness and cheerful and happy through it all.

Anybody having or knowing of a position requiring such attributes please email me with particulars. Lhakpa has fair English language capability.

Lhakpa is Kami's nephew rather than son but Lhakpa's father is dead and according to Sherpa culture Kami is the older brother and now surrogate father. Kami's children must treat Lhakpa as a blood brother and he them and they must call one another brother and sister. He must call Pala "big Father" and Pala must call him son. Pala recommends him without reservation.

Did not understand your first post Ghostsix.

Who is David?

Oh well. Wish I could be of some service to Kami's nephew. Unfortunately I have no relevant experience and no connections at all.

Would _gladly_ provide housing if job search takes him out to Oregon.

Thanks, Dave. Very kind offer. He could probably give you a few tips on khukuri use in exchange for housing.

David is a mutual friend of mine and Bill`s.We don`t talk about him. This is his Master`s wish.

A couple of parties have requested a resume from Lhakpa. We will see what comes of it all.

As I told one fellow he is one of the sweetest boys you could ever meet and he is. But he is also a Gorkha and the dispositions can range the full spectrum.

Lhakpa treats me like I was a king and I suspect if I slapped him as a reprimand for something he did that I considered improper he would ask my forgiveness for improper behavior. If somebody slapped MY face in his presence they would be in danger of losing their life.

It is the way of the Gorkha.

I am working on something interesting for Lhakpa uncle Bill. Maybe with some luck it will turn out positive. But you can never tell. I'll keep you posted by e-mail.

I know a guy that owns a decent-sized executive protection service and training company in LA, I EMailed him this thread and a short note on what HI is.

Some of his clients include Saudi prices who would be well familiar with what a Gorkha is!
