Been a bit of a knife collector since I was 15. And it occurred to me one day that I always seem to cut myself shortly after owning a new knife. Nothing big that needed stitches or anything normally just a nick. And not checking sharpness by running thumb over it either. And only happens once after that I've never cut myself with the same knife again. Its like my knives are are possested and require blood to be called mine. Lol :). Everything from a long wicked looking fantasy knife to my new dragonfly 2 (closed it on my middle finger). My new but older para2 I was cutting a fingernail. 0560 showing someone it can cut hair and apparently myself. Haha weird habit I guess.. But again after first blood... I never cut myself afterwards. Anyone similar? I bet there are some knife nuts out there that do it on purpose . just wondering. :)

I had a new Sebenza 25 that did that. None of my other Sebbies ever cut me. I got rid of it.

If you've never been cut by it, it isn't really "yours". However, I feel that knives, like the Japanese beliefs regarding their swords, are invested with your own energy/will/spirit what have you over a long period of time. Maybe it is simple familiarity, but then I don't consider it coincidence if a knife that you are abusing turns around and not only bites you, but bites hard. That first one is just a way of saying hello. :)

Yep, with about 80% of my knives, within a month I will have been bitten once, and with the exception of ballisongs, never again...

I like your way of thinking Remy. I agree. Its kinda like there saying hello... Who are you "bite" your my new master. :). It got my thinking of every knife I've owned. My first being a knife my dad bought me when I was pry 12 yes old.. Very large mean looking knife and I remember cutting my easter basket open with it and cutting my pinky. Every knife since likes to say "hello" :). I Dont mind it :) as long as I Dont loose a finger doing so.
