Have I mentioned how much I love auctions lately?...

I know most are sick of my auction posts (I was junkcarsrock) but I haven't posted about them in a while. I didn't even post about the permanent magnet 1 horse dc motor and controller that I bought a month ago for a $1 or the 40 ton press frame that is made out of 6" I beam for 50¢. :D
Anyway, I had to post today's buy. I have been needing one for a while. It is an old, very heavy, 14" vertical Delta bandsaw.....

There were two alike. This one has the original paint and needs cleaned up. It has some kind of extra motor or electric gear reduction deal that makes it a two speed. It slows way down. The other one had new paint and was all stock single speed and real clean. I may have paid more than I should have for the one I got..... :D

It works great but the leather on the wheels are dried out and starting to crack. Both were like that. I am pretty darn happy though!!! The kicker is, the clean one that sold after the one I bought sold for $165! I liked this one better anyway! I also bought a brown and sharp height gage for $20 early in the sale. Glad they didn't sell the saws till the end of the auction. :)
Ok, no more auction crap unless I get something really great. :)

A very big Thank You Mike! That is just what I was looking for!!!
That bearing roller system is sweet. It will have to wait a while though. :)

gosh trick you need to come down here to oklahoma and find some deals like that for me im green in the face with envy

Trick, congratulations on the bandsaw! I really enjoy seeing the bargains you pick up, fella. And the good pics, also. When I saw your post and new handle, I thought ol' Junkcarstock was gonna have some competetition at the auctions. Good going, Trick.

Way to go, Trick! I picked up a saw almost like that one in May. It was in perfect shape, too. Paid $125 for it. Since then I have fabbed a new base, and installed a modern motor. Now there was a website I found (and lost again) that states the year these machines were made according to the serial number. Mine was made in 1947.

Nice thing about these older machines is that they are of superior quality than the newer stuff out there,a little tweaking and new paint will have it like new, nice find.

Thanks everyone! This one was made in 1945!!! :D I am so very happy! I have been playing with it some today. It rocks! I inspected the blade guides. I know this is no real indication because they could have been changed, but, they are like brand new with hardly any wear at all! I do plan on buying some urethane tires but my dad checked it out and he said these have plenty of life left.

Ok, so I realized something today. Maybe this is a reward? Yesterday was one month since my last cig. Quit cold turkey, haven't had so much as a drag since. I have quit before over the years and started again, always when drunk. But hopefully this time is different. I have had two, half beers this year. Nothing wrong with having a drink at all, IMO. It's just not good for me. I tend to do things I regret later. :D I started smoking when I was 9 years old and I am 34 now.

I picked up a great old good running Delta 4' wood lathe, the same one I used in shop class YEARS ago, for $100. Then I bought a smaller wood lathe for $5 at a yard sale, another small metal lathe that needs some work, for $5, and a 3' wood lathe for $50. I am wood lathe poor, but $160 ain't bad for 4 lathes, huh? It will never top your buys, though,Trick! Your saw looks like you can do some serious resaw work with, which is really great.Lucky dog!
