Have lanyards caused you to lose a knife???

I just bought my first high-end knife(a small sebenza 21), and it came with the lanyard attached as all new sebenzas do. I've never carried a knife with a lanyard, and was wondering if a lanyard has ever caused anyone to lose a knife or make a knife come out of your pocket accidentally(ie: it catches on something and gets pulled out)? I like the looks of the lanyard, but I don't want to lose my new blade. The lanyard is not long enough to fall inside my pocket so it hangs freely outside. If anyone has any input on this subject, it will be greatly appreciated.

You can afford a Sebenza, but you confuse the word "loose" with the word "lose".
God Bless America.

Just a pet peeve of mine, nothing personal on you bud :)
To answer your question, I've never had it happen, but I don't sport a lanyard on my knives.
For something like a Sebenza, I'd LOSE the lanyard, as I think it's more of a utilitarian thing.

I can't say that I've ever experienced such a problem. But then again my lanyards ride on my fixed blades, and they ride in sheaths so they're secured.

Funny you bring it up today, and on Sebenzas. Yesterday was the first time it happened to me. My large 21 Starbenza was hanging on by the end of the clip when I emptied my pockets at the house. I was wearing layers and a 3/4 length coat due to the cold. Don't know if that had anything to do with it, but it was the first time it's occurred after years of carrying assorted Sebbies.

I have carried many knives with lanyards - sometimes they are useful, and sometimes they just look cool, but mostly I like my lanyards because I make them myself. I have never lost a knife because of the lanyard. I have, however, lost a few friends because I too often corrected their spelling, grammar, and/or mathematical calculations. Live and learn, my friends... Live and learn.

And, just for good measure (i.e., because we ALL like knife pix (no matter what else we disagree about)), here are a few of my knives with their respective lanyards (as carried, and never lost):

Yep, I've lost two knives because of the lanyards, both were Sebenzaas. I swear if I lose one more like that I'm gonna stop using them...
