Give it a go yourself with bench stones. Start with a VERY coarse stone at a high angle. 55° or as high as you can hold securely. Grind away till the bevel on the off side is almost gone. Then drop the angle to about 15° and sharpen till the burr forms. Remove burr by drawing through the end grain of 2x2 hardwood. Finish through the grits. Raise the angle a few °'s for the final edge. Polish the off side flat for a true chisel edge. Plus this helps remove any vestiage of the burr. You're done.
Note right handers usually perfer the grind on the right side, blade right if you are holding the point away from you, left handers usually prefer the grind on the left side.
It is not difficult to do and not all that time consuming unless you are working HARD steel. Use an agressive stone you are moving a lot of metal. Go light on the grit and you can be forever.
If you know someone with a Tormek they can do it in about 5 minutes. Might try a local wood workers and see if they have one. Free hand it on the tool rest to the stone if they don't have a knife jig.
