Have the FRN UKPKs have their springs improved?

I heard a while back that the FRN UKPKs were having their springs redone to make them stiffer, as my old one was almost a gravity knife . I am looking at grabbing one as a beater, but don't want to if they havn't had the springs re-engineered (if thats the base, I think a Byrd Tern will do the trick). Thanks!

I do know that the spring was redesigned. It was split to look like a snake tongue on the end. Why this was done I can't tell you.

The new springs have been found in UKPKs with date codes CL and later.
