The knife is not made up of any ground up duck animal products but does mention the work "Ducks" in listing as it is a Ducks Unlimited Conservation knife.

This is the email that ebay sent me

The buyer had already paid for the item and a few hours later this email was sent.

MC036 eBay Listing Removed: Animals, Plants and Wildlife

Hello
**PLEASE READ THIS IMPORTANT EMAIL REGARDING YOUR LISTING(S)**

We appreciate that you chose eBay to list the following eBay Stores listing(s):

Schrade USA LB7 Ducks Scrimshaw Etched Blade RARE

However, your (s) violates eBay's Animals, Plants and Wildlife policy and has been removed. In accordance with our User Agreement, items prohibited by law or by eBay policy are not allowed on eBay. We notified members who placed bids on the item that the listing has been canceled.

Since the sale of live animals and wildlife products is in some cases prohibited, highly regulated, or may cause harm to eBay or its members, sellers are restricted in their listing of them on eBay.

Marine mammal products, including but not limited to polar bear, sea otter, whales (baleen and ivory), porpoise, dolphins, and seals, may not be listed for sale on eBay. This is due to the fact that the sale of such items is highly regulated in many areas around the world, and the sale of such items typically requires permits and/or special permission from appropriate governing agencies.

Wow, I'd say the cheese slipped off of someones cracker. I hope they don't see Rolands knife with a deers foot handle.

On second thought, check your MY EBAY MESSAGES and see if that message is valid a EBAY message. It might be a phishing type email sent by some fanatics or lunatics.

That's really sick. Sure it may just be a computer generated BigBay trolling message but to close that knife sale down because of the word "DUCKS"?

There are a lot of people I know who aren't going there as much because of the many controls and assumptions now beginning to show up so regularly.

Now if BigBay could take some of that time wasted to go after the bloody cloners faking Benchmades, EKI's and others, I'd be a LITTLE happier...:jerkit:

Sorry to hear about that crap.

Come on Tim we all know e-bay have been Quackers for some time, seriously though this has been flagged somehow out of the ordinary. How many Ducks Unlimited knives do you see all day long on e-bay.

I will tell you this and add it to your notes cause its fact... I get on average 1-3 fake pay pal messages per week!!!. It all started several months ago when I got an invoice for $50 bucks and some change. was a little confused by it and contacted pay pal. they said there is a whole network out there sending these out and when you open the email invoice they can get into your computer or some crap like that. either way there is all kinds of hoax's going around out there. Man Id love to catch me a computer hacker, Id turn his computer room into a butcher shop!!!

I think this may only apply to ebay in Australia not USA.

It seems that the problem for me was the word Scrimshaw in my listing not the word Ducks.

Dictionary definition of scrimshaw is,
1. a carved or engraved article, esp. of whale ivory, whalebone, walrus tusks, or the like, made by whalers as a leisure occupation.
2. such articles or work collectively.
3. the art or technique of carving or engraving whale ivory, whalebone, walrus tusks, etc.
–verb (used without object) 4. to produce scrimshaw.
–verb (used with object) 5. to carve or engrave (whale ivory or whalebone) into scrimshaw.

Off course mine is on synthetic delrin not bone or ivory.

Here are 4 other Scrimshaws on ebay.au with current listings! Ebay ended my listing AFTER the buyer had purchased and paid, he has no Paypal protection and cannot leave feedback, although i will honour the deal.
4 more ebay.au still active at present.

Hello Tim,

Thank you for your email regarding your listing for the knife.

Your listing was removed simply because it features scrimshaw handles.

Australia provided it complies with *both* of the following conditions:

1) The item was manufactured prior to 1972.

2) A clear and legible scan of documentation/a certificate showing the

You're more than welcome to relist the knife on the site, however,
please include a clear and legible scan of the required documentation
