Hello,
Knife Center has Exclusive Flat Dark Earth Inkosi's. They put out a video on yesterday

here is a link to the product

I like the Flat Dark Earth of the scales. However, I do not like coated blades.
I like the idea of sending a beat-up CRK back for a SPA treatment and have it come back like new. I imagine a coated blade would look like a mess after a while.
Thoughts?

My initial reaction is “what’s the point”? But all too often that’s my initial reaction to most changes. Some people will like this offering. It sure will look cool after hard use which attracts me to CRKs in the first place. I love that they’re experimenting , only if it were with different steel(s). Your post was the first I’d seen of this, so thank you.

Considering they can refinish the coating in house and its just kg Gunkote they can probably get it looking as new as they can their fixed blades.

I received the email Thursday from knife center and all I saw at first was new Chris Reeve exclusive. It did get me excited and I clicked directly on it. I don’t know much about the FDE. I asked knife center customer service if they’ll make any lefty’s and they said no plans at the moment. That pretty much ended my debating on if I’d buy one. On down the road if they make lefty’s I’d say I’ll probably pick one up tho

OK... First we saw that LE Sebenza (leather lanyard, walnut wood inlays made from old Tommy gun stocks, black Gunkoted scales) back in May and now there’s an exclusive retail Sebenza with Gunkote finishing. Looks like CRK has now officially moved into doing Gunkote handle finishing, which I think is a good thing. I’d like to see more available handle finish options. This one doesn’t particularly ring my chimes, but I look forward to other future Gunkoted varieties.

IMO they look too plain with the scales and blade both FDE. Coated blade with plain Ti scales (or vice versa) might look more appealing to me.

I’m really curious how these will look with a good pocket & use patina. Or, hmmm, GK scales with bacon damascus....

I see this as being the first step towards some amazing offerings in the future. I also hope they throw a new steel into the mix at some point.

The single color is kind of cheap looking. A black or stone wash blade would look better. However with a bunch of scratches and marks I bet that finish would look pretty cool.

The s35vn always leave something to be desired. After using multiple s30v and s35vn knives over the past couple years from multiple makers I slightly prefer s30v for Edge retention and ease of sharpening .

Not to mention the huge burr I always get with s35vn just like I do with 154cm.

With that said. I might just end up owning one. Ive never been let down by a CRK.

Kind of reminds me of the CRKT desert cruiser in a similar colour.

I would like one just from a nostalgia point of view and just to have one and see how it ages.

I never understood the purpose of making knives harder to see. It just makes them easier to lose. I live in high desert and if dropped this knife would blend into the shale and be gone for ever. Give me bright colors (Spyderco!) or at least basic black with clear metal blade.
