Have there been any UBDOTD WW IIs?

Just wondering if any 18" WW-IIs have been offered up lately at discounted prices... :)

I note that the pommel caps on the WWIIs pictured on the HI website appear to be flat (ie. no bumps, or ridges, on the surface) and relatively thick compared to some other examples I've seen. Are the WWII pommel caps still being made the same way? I ask this because I really like the look.

Also, would the kamis consider making the bolster and the pommel cap out of steel? Or, if steel is too prone to rust, how much extra would a silver bolster and pommel cap add onto the cost of the basic 18" WWII knife?

No 18" WW2's I remember but I grabbed a Bura 16.5" WW2 a couple months back.

I have on Chiruwa style WWII Sanu decided to make. We don't get many of them and it's done pretty well in case anybody is interested. It's got a brass buttcap tho and not steel. Pretty hefty knife and plenty tough.

Hey Uncle Bill, I don't mean to sound uptight but you never did answer my question about whether the pommel caps on the WWIIs are still exactly the same as depicted on your website (that is, flat/smooth and *thick*) I really, really prefer that look :)

And as for what sort of WWII I would prefer, I guess that a horn handled 18" WW-II with brass mounts and a cowdi-cho would be what I'm looking for - preferably one of the lighter ones. I've decided that getting the mounts in silver will cost more, and having them in steel would make the khukuri more rust-prone.

The top WWII is just about what I'm looking for, except with the new habaki-style bolster.

If any of your deal of the days come up with that sort of khukuri, I'll be highly interested in it. Of course, if you have a brand new one kicking around, I might be interested in that instead....

Oh yeah, one more thing...as you can see, I'm from up North. How much is shipping for one 18" khukuri via USPS?

That's a pix of the old scrolled type buttcaps. I need to update the pix on the site but just can't seem to find the spare time. Current buttcaps are flat plate brass and about 1/8 inch thick.

We pay shipping to Canada.

If you email me personally and bug me I'll send you a pix of what I have in stock in the 18" WWII models.

Kmark the steel bolsters and butt caps don't rust anymore readily than the blade itself.
I absolutely love the steel furniture on a khukuri!!!!!!!    :D

If I'm not mistaken all or almost all of the original WW II and other military khukuris had steel furniture.:D

Really? That's something to think about...I still gotta see what Uncle Bill has in stock for the 18" WWIIs before making a decision to buy a brass-fitted khukuri, or having Bura make me a WWII with steel furniture and the old-style scrolled buttcap.

If the latter option is the same price, and the turn around time isn't too long, then I might decide on that instead. It all depends on what Uncle Bill has in stock, and what he says about pricing/turnaround time...

Steel fittings? If you go and order one of those I might have to get one too. :D I may have to sell a kidney though.

Is brass just the traditional material for bolsters and butt caps or is steel just harder to work with?
