Have there ever been any sprint runs of the Persians with "super steels"?

I don't believe that there have been any. The original Perians (full-sized and mini, black micarta scales) were in VG-10. The red sprint run was in VG-10 and the Persian 2 was the same.

Thus far the Persian has been made in Japan. If this continued with any further production, I would guess that the steels used would be ZDP-189 or Super Blue; however, I have heard no rumors that this will happen.

Yep, this is my understanding as well. In addition to the point about Japanese manufacturers' refusal to use non-Japanese steels, another reason we're unlikely to see it is simply that baseline demand for the regular production Persian might not be high enough to support sprint runs on top of the regular ones (especially if the sprints were to use more exotic/expensive steels).
